Dear Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that we share the following news.

Dr Robert Morkot – ancient historian, authority on Sudan, and Egyptologist – passed away on 21 October 2025, at his home in Devon (UK). His death follows a diagnosis with terminal cancer earlier this year.

Robert was a friend, a colleague, a scholar, a teacher, an intellect, and a wit.

He was a good man and will be missed greatly.
