Miroslav Verner, Qertassi and Tafa. Czechoslovak Explorations in Nubia within the International Campaign to Save the Monuments of Nubia. Charles University, Faculty of Arts, Prague 2024

The monograph presents the results of the work of the Czechoslovak Egyptological Expedition to Nubia in Qertassi and Tafa in the 1960s. Except for other tasks, the Expedition was assigned by the Egyptian authorities to survey and reconstruct the plan of the enclosure wall of the fortress in Qertassi, and to locate the remnants of the so-called Southern Temple in Tafa. Both sites had in that time been buried under mud deposited after the construction of the First Dam at Aswan that greatly complicated the research. Besides these two principle tasks some minor rescue research was accomplished across the two sites as well.
