Profile: Soba was a large city on the bank of the Blue Nile, with churches, monasteries, fine houses, beautiful gardens, and a district inhabited by Muslims. It was the capital of the Kingdom of Alwa (approx. 5th/6th century to the beginning of the 16th century).
