Conference “Poles on the Nile” 9-12 June 2026

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to the annual conference “Poles on the Nile,” which presents Polish archaeological research in Egypt, to be held on June 9–12, 2026, in a hybrid format (venue: University of Warsaw and via Zoom).

The event is co-organised by the Department of Egyptian and Nubian Archaeology at the Faculty of Archaeology and the Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, both at the University of Warsaw.

This year, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Poles on the Nile.” To mark this milestone, the conference will summarise the archaeological results of Polish expeditions to Sudan and Egypt presented over the past years. Alongside this retrospective, Polish projects currently operating in Egypt and Sudan will present their latest research results.

Also, recently defended doctoral and postdoctoral students will be traditionally presented at the conference. Master’s projects will also be presented as posters in room 210 of the Faculty of Archaeology, University of Warsaw.

All speeches will be given in English.

Registration of remote participants will take place through the conference website www.polacynadnilem.uw.edu.pl.

The conference program is available at http://polacynadnilem.uw.edu.pl/…/05/PnN_2026_program.pdf

We would be grateful if you would disseminate the information about the conference in your Newsletter and among members of your institution.

Best regards,

On behalf of the Organising Committee,

Katarzyna de Lellis-Danys
